NOVI, Mich. (November 17, 2014) – Miller Vein, Metro-Detroit’s premier medical office for varicose and spider vein treatment, has been recognized as one of Michigan’s “Coolest Places to Work” by Crain’s Detroit Business magazine. The “Cool Places” distinction was designed to identify and honor the best employers in Michigan, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses.

“After screening potential new hires and insuring they are the best and brightest, we try our very best to employ only the most kind, caring and compassionate people,” said Founder Jeffrey H. Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Cool Places to Work in Michigan. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Crain’s Detroit Business runs the “Cool Places to Work” program in conjunction with the Best Companies Group, a specialist in employee surveys and analysis.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – Steven K. Wang, MD visited the Italian American Cultural Society in Clinton Township on Thursday, October 2, 2014. He covered many topics regarding venous insufficiency including symptoms, risk factors and treatment options.

Dr. Wang serves as the Medical Director for Miller Vein in Troy and Macomb Township.

Miller Vein Founder Jeffrey H. Miller, MD was joined by Monroe Mayor Bob Clark and French Township Supervisor James McDevitt to perform the ribbon-cutting for the new location.

“I love Monroe and always felt the community would be a perfect location for Miller Vein,” says Dr. Miller.

Miller Vein First to Perform FDA-Approved Varithena® Treatment in Midwest, A Nonsurgical Solution to Treat Varicose Veins

Miller Vein, Metro-Detroit’s premier vein clinic, will now offer patients Varithena® as a treatment option for varicose veins. Jeffrey H. Miller, MD and his staff performed the first treatment in the Midwest on Friday, August 22, 2014. Currently, Varithena® (polidocanol injectable foam) is the only FDA-approved foam treatment for varicose veins in the great saphenous vein (GSV) system of the leg.

Varithena® improves symptoms related to or caused by varicose veins, and the appearance of varicose veins. Symptoms include leg heaviness, achiness, swelling, itchiness and restless legs. Varithena® is the latest treatment from BTG International Inc., a healthcare company based out of Pennsylvania. The treatment doesn’t require any incisions or local anesthesia and the procedure takes less than an hour. Varithena® should improve safety, because the medicine is made with carbon dioxide, which is more physiologic than room air.

“While Varithena® is a modification of procedures we already perform, I think it’s a great step forward in treating vein disorders,” says Dr. Miller. Miller Vein offers several types of treatment for varicose veins including endovenous laser ablation, radiofrequency ablation, endovenous chemical ablation, mechanico-chemical ablation and microphlebectomy. Treatment with Varithena® will now add another option for Miller Vein patients suffering from varicose veins. Miller Vein participates in the Give and Get Fit Health and Wellness Fundraiser for the second year in a row. The event is put on by the Rhonda Walker Foundation and takes place along the Detroit Riverwalk.

Give and Get Fit brings together hundreds of health-conscious metro-Detroiters for a morning of fitness including a 5K/10K race, yoga, pilates and a health fair.
